On October 11, 2018, Academician Duan Xue, as the chief scientist, undertook the National Major Scientific Research Program project Functional Assembly of Nano-intercalation Materials and Effective Utilization of Salt Lake Magnesium Resources and held a project acceptance meeting at Beijing University of Chemical Technology. The meeting was chaired by the project's chief scientist, Academician Duan Xue, and the project expert group included Academicians Hong Maochun, Li Yadong, Professor Chen Rong, Professor Liu Haichao, Professor Jiang Jianzhuang, Professor Xing Xianrui, Professor Chen Dongsheng, Professor Xu Chunming, Professor Zong Baoning, Professor Wang Xun, Professor Liu Zhenyu, Director Yang Wenhui, and Professor Luo Xianping. Professor Wang Feng, Vice President of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Professor Yang Xiaoping, Dean of the Research Institute, Dr. Zhang Chen from the Basic Research Management Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and core researchers from six units including Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Fujian Institute of Material Structure, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Southeast University, Beijing Institute of Technology, and Wuhan University of Technology participated in the meeting.

Academician Duan Xue, the chief scientist of the project, first summarized the background of the project establishment, key scientific issues, and the completion of the project, elaborating on the important scientific progress achieved in the project research. Vice President Wang Feng delivered a welcome speech and expressed heartfelt thanks for the strong support from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, and peer experts. Dr. Zhang Chen from the Ministry of Science and Technology explained the procedures and key requirements for the project's final acceptance. The leaders of each topic reported on the completion of their respective topics; the project expert group, after carefully listening to the reports of the topic leaders and reviewing relevant materials, provided specific evaluations for the implementation of each topic. The expert group offered many valuable opinions from aspects such as the completion of topic tasks, contribution to the overall goals of the project, innovation and scientific value of research results, innovation ability of the research team and talent training, and main existing problems. After inquiry and discussion, the experts unanimously agreed that each topic had successfully completed the research tasks stipulated in the task book and agreed to pass the final acceptance, laying a good foundation for the acceptance work of the next phase of the project.
