The chemistry discipline supported by the School of Chemistry maintains a ranking in the top 1 ‰ of ESI global rankings (the chemistry discipline entered the top 1 ‰ of ESI global rankings for the first time in March 2018, and rose to 44th place in ESI global rankings in March 2024). The college takes the lead in building a State Key Laboratory of effective utilization of chemical resources, and has established provincial and ministerial scientific research bases such as the basic research laboratory of assessment and accident identification of new hazardous chemicals, the Beijing key laboratory of analysis of environmental hazardous chemicals, the Beijing Engineering Technology Center of multi-level structural catalytic materials, and national teaching bases such as the chemical teaching base of basic engineering courses, the chemical experiment teaching demonstration center. We have the Ministry of Education's Top notch Chemical Talents Training Program Base 2.0, the Beijing International Science and Technology Cooperation Base for Supramolecular Intercalation Assembly Materials, the Discipline Innovation and Talent Introduction Base 2.0 for Assembly Chemistry of Intercalated Molecular Materials, and the Beijing Science Popularization Base.
The School of Chemistry has a team of young and middle-aged academic leaders with deep academic achievements and innovative spirit, consisting of academicians, Changjiang Scholars, and national outstanding youth as the core, and has a strong faculty. We have established one National Natural Science Foundation of China Innovation Research Group, two Ministry of Education Changjiang Scholars Innovation Teams, one of the first national level teaching teams, and three excellent teaching teams in Beijing.

The college has strong educational strength, significant teaching and research achievements, and has won 1 national science and technology progress award, 2 national science and technology invention awards, 1 first prize and 5 second prizes for national education and teaching achievements. It has 7 national quality courses and 6 national resource sharing courses. The research fields involve intercalation chemistry, inorganic functional materials, catalytic science and technology, modern analytical testing technology, special coatings, applied electrochemistry, synthesis and preparation of drug intermediate chemistry, interface chemistry and application technology, water treatment technology and chemical agents, inorganic materials chemistry, organic fine synthesis, chemical biology, energy chemistry, etc. In the past five years, we have undertaken more than 150 national level scientific research projects, including the National Key Research and Development Program, National Science and Technology Major Projects, Major Instrument Projects, and National Natural Science Foundation. We have received over 170 million yuan in funding for vertical scientific research and 140 million yuan in funding for horizontal projects; Published over 2000 academic papers in mainstream chemistry journals both domestically and internationally; Applied for over 700 international and national invention patents, of which over 430 were authorized; Led and participated in the development of over 20 industry and group standards.
