The 7th World Forum on Industrial Minerals was held in Qingyang County, Anhui Province from October 21 to 24, 2023. The College of Chemistry (BUCT), as one of the organizers, participated in organizing organized this conference. Professor Feng Yongjun Feng from our college was invited to serve as the chairman of the conference and gave a keynote speech on "Exploring the Challenges, Opportunities, and Future of Non metallic Mining Technology and Industry" at the opening ceremony. Professor Jingbin Han Jingbin, the vice dean of scientific research at the college, research secretary, and relevant teachers and as well as doctoral and master's students in the college attended the conference.
The theme of this forum is "Technology Shaping New Energy and New Advantages for the Development of Non-metallic Mining Industry", adhering to the development concept of innovation, coordination, green, openness, and sharing. More than 500 representatives attended this conference, who came from universities, research institutes, government departments, academia, production enterprises, investment institutions, equipment manufacturers, and others attended. The forum released over 160 scientific and technological reports, exchanging the latest scientific research achievements, technological progress, and market demand in the field of non-metallic minerals, exploring the new driving forces and advantages brought to the development of the non-metallic mineral industry chain by new types of green chemistry and chemical engineering, geochemistry, geology and minerals, nanotechnology, interface science and quantum technology, materials science and engineering, biomedicine, and other technological advancements at home and abroad. Professors Fabrice Leroux and Chistine Taviot Gueho from the University of Clermont Auvergne in France gave keynote scientific presentations and invited thematic presentations, respectively. Professor Jingbin Han Jingbin gave an invitation theme speech. Teachers such as Tang Pinggui, Liu Yanan, Li Kaitao, Liu Wendi, Zhang Qian, as well as doctoral and master's students such as Li Zijia, Mo Yufan, and Chu Zhaoyu gave an invitation oral presentation at the conference.
At this forum, Qingyang Institute of Nonmetallic Mines, Zhejiang University of Technology, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China University of Mining and Technology, and the Professional Committee of Mineral Physics and Mineral Structure of the China Mineral and Rock Geochemical Society jointly issued the Qingyang Declaration was issued. The declaration calls on non-metallic mining researchers to actively respond to the non-metallic mining industry and technological changes, strive to create first-class non-metallic mining technology, industry, education, and culture, and accelerate the realization of high-level, sustainable, and high-quality development of non-metallic mining technology.
