With the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), the International Conference of Computational Organometallic Catalysis (ICCOC2023) was successfully held at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) from October 20th to 23rd, 2023. The conference was organized by the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Resource Engineering, College of Chemistry and Institute of Computational Chemistry of BUCT. The opening ceremony of the conference was held in the morning of October 21st. The Vice President FengWang delivered a welcome address. Prof. XiangjianShen (the director of the division of theoretical chemistry and mechanism of Department of Chemical Science of NSFC), Prof. Yundong Wu (Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) from Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University), and Prof. Odile Eisenstein (the former Chairman of the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Science from University of Montpellier) delivered an opening address, respectively. A lot of distinguished professors in this research field from all over the world, including Prof. Robert Morris (the follow the Royal Society of Canada from University of Toronto), Prof. PeijunHu (the fellow of the Royal Irish Academy from Queen's University Belfast), Prof. Fahmi Himo (Stockholm University) and Prof. Shuhua Li (Nanjing University), as well as Prof. Zhang Juan (NSFC), Prof. Ping Yin (the chairman of affairs of College of Chemistry of BUCT) attended the opening ceremony of ICCOC2023.More than 170 teachers and students from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Spain, Sweden and other countries attended the conference.

The computational organometallic catalysis is one of hot fields of modern chemistry. This conference brought together renowned experts and scholars in this field, who presented the latest research progress combining chemistry with machine learning and artificial intelligence. On the one hand, the conference effectively promoted the development of the discipline of theoretical and computational chemistry integrating with industrial catalysis of BUCT. On the other hand, the conference promoted the understanding and friendship including diverse cultural exchange and academic discussion activities. The participants expressed their admiration and gratitude for the organization and reception of the conference and hoped for more inspiring events like ICCOC2023 conference in the future.
