On June 11, 2024, entrusted by the School of Chemistry, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Professor Yufei Zhao signed an international cooperation agreement on behalf of the School of Chemistry with the Ivanovsky Institute of Biology and Biotechnology of the Southern Federation University of Russia in the research field of environmental protection and energy. According to the agreement, both sides will jointly carry out scientific research projects in the field of environmental protection and energy, and achieve obligation and mutual benefit through academic exchanges, student exchange and resource sharing. The School of Chemistry of Beijing University of Chemical Technology will continue to give full play to the advantages and characteristics of the school in the field of two-dimensional functional materials, and Southern Federal University will actively promote the application of such materials in environmental protection and mineral resource utilization. The two institutes will work closely together in the future to achieve new breakthroughs in international cooperation.
During this period, Professor Yufei Zhao was invited to participate in the second international conference on "Problems and Prospects of Environmental Sustainable Development in Mountain and Plain Areas" and the third international conference on "Monitoring, Protection and Restoration of Ecosystems under Anthropogenic Load" initiated by the Southern Federal University of Russia, and gave an invited report on the topic of application research of two-dimensional layered materials in the field of environment and solar energy. After the international conference, with the invitation of Prof. T. M. Minkina, Ivanovsky Institute of Biology and Biotechnology, Southern Federation University of Russia, Professor Yufei Zhao went to the institute for academic exchange, gave a wonderful lecture on "LDHs Chemistry and chemical engineering" to the teachers and students of the institute, and guided related graduate students with controllable synthesis of LDHs materials.
The history of the Southern Federal University can be traced back to the Imperial University of Warsaw, founded in Poland in 1817. Until 2006, the Government of the Russian Federation four top universities in southern Russia to merge, and officially renamed as the Southern Federal University. The Southern Federal University consists of 14 departments and 10 state institutes, with more than 70 research institutes, including 4 subordinate faculties and several scientific laboratories in cooperation with the Russian Academy of Sciences. In the all-Russian University rankings launched by the Russian Ministry of Education, Southern Federal University ranks sixth, while in the ranking of the Russian "Higher School Bulletin", Southern Federal University ranks fourth in the whole of Russia, and in the 2024 QS World University Rankings, Southern Federal University ranks 701-710. In addition, the school has produced many famous alumni, such as Nobel Prize winner Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The Ivanovsky Institute of Biology and Biotechnology of the University of the Southern Federation of Russia is a research institution with significant influence and academic contributions in the field of biology and biotechnology, and its environmental research achievements have been recognized by domestic and foreign academic awards, such as the Russian Science Award and the International Environmental Science Award.
